St. Thomas’ Cathedral celebrated Christmas beginning with a special Christmas Eve Service on December 24th 2017 as well as three special services on Christmas Day 25th December 2017.

Thousand of parishioners thronged the Cathedral hall with additional canopy at the front and side and the Parish Hall, to witness the celebration.

Christmas Eve Service began with the Parish Youth Fellowship performance at 8pm. The performance was to re-enact the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ as foretold in the Gospel of St. Luke ch.2 vs.10-11. ” I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a saviour has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord.”

The Holy Communion Service started at 10pm with a procession around the Cathedral, led by the Bishop, the Right Rev’d Danald Jute accompanied by the Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Rev’d Michael Buma Galami.

This was followed by the Devotions Before the Crib where the Bishop lighted the two candles to signify the birth of the Sweet Infant Jesus at the Manger.

Hymns were sung before Liturgy was recited by the Bishop who was the celebrant and Preacher during the service of Holy Communion (Luke 2:1-14).

The service ended with singing of Christmas Carols by the Choir at midnight.

Christmas Day Celebration
On Christmas Day, 25th Dec.,2017, the Holy Communion Service started at 6.30am. The celebrant was the Dean, the Very Rev’d Michael Buma and the Preacher was the Bishop. The Right Rev’d Danald Jute who preached on the Gospel of St. Luke 2:8-20
During the 8.15am Service , the celebrant was the Dean while the preacher was Bishop RT Rev’d Aeries Sumping Jingen.

After the service, the parishioners were invited to the clergy Open House celebration in the Parish  hall to enjoy a buffet lunch.  Grace was recited by the Very Rev’d Michael Buma.
