Christians throughout the world celebrate Christmas on 25th December each year. In Sarawak, the theme chosen for this year by the Organising Committee for the Association of Churches Joint Christmas Service hosted by St. Thomas’s Cathedral Kuching was “Immanuel, God is with us”.
At St. Thomas’s Cathedral, Christmas Eve Service started at 9.30pm. Over two thousand parishioners and visitors thronged the nave of the Cathedral as well as the tents set up on both sides and the Parish Hall.
Before the Holy Communion Service, the Parish Youth Fellowship Ministry with Jonathan and Bethanie Tearne presented a Christmas musical to the congregations from 8.00pm.
The Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia, the Most Rev’d Datuk Bolly Lapok was the celebrant and preacher during the service. The service was broadcast ‘live’ through Radio Televisions Malaysia, Sarawak .
