St. Thomas’ Cathedral held its annual Parish Sale on 9th September 2017 from 7.30 am to 12 noon. The sale was to raise fund for spiritual, welfare and pastoral activities and also for the public and members to fellowship with one another. Many came early to avoid missing out on their favourite items. The Cathedral’s parking space was full by 8am.
Thousand of parishioners and members of the public came for the sale. Among the other parishes which participated in the sales were Tabuan Jaya Anglican, St. Matthew Sg. Maong and St. Faith Church. Tadika St. Thomas’s Cathedral and SMK St. Mary alsoparticipated in the sales. The new Bishop, the Right Reverend Danald Jute also joined in the fellowship and shook hand with the parishioners. The Dean, the Very Rev’d Michael Buma Galamy was also present.
There were about 58 stalls set up by parishioners from the various ministries selling items ranging from local delicacies to farm produce. There were, among others, Dayak specialty dishes such as chicken and pork pansuh, BBQ meat, kacang ma and special curries, home-made cakes, pastries, Sarawakian street foods, Western food, second-hand books and magazines, clothing, fresh fruits and vegetables, and decorative items. A selection of wooden candle holders, goblets and trays specially handcrafted in England by a parishioner using wood unavailable locally such as yew, oak, holly and cherry were also on sale.
The Cathedral thanks all for their support, those who operated the stalls, the helpers and those who patronized the sale and those who donated in cash and kind generously.
