To be a Church which Lives and Proclaims in Words and Deeds the Good News of God’s saving love in Jesus Christ

DEAN MESSAGE

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

DO YOU BELIEVE?

St Paul writes:
And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. (1 Cor 15: 14-19)
Paul asked the Church in Corinth a hypothetical question: What would we do if Christ had not been raised?
The apostle Paul clearly pointed out that the resurrection of Christ is the foundation of our faith. He said, “If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain” (14). This means that if Christ had not been resurrected, the gospel preached by the apostles – Christ’s death and resurrection (3-4), as well as the gospel we believe in, would become meaningless and worthless. Because if Christ had not been resurrected, it would mean that he was no different from ordinary people, and he could not overcome the power of sin, death, and Hades.
Paul’s assumption was to let the believers in Corinth see that if Jesus Christ had not been resurrected, if there was no resurrection of the dead, the basis of their faith would be completely overturned.
Back to us today, do we believe that Jesus Christ has indeed been resurrected? If that is the case, has our life changed because of our belief in the resurrected Lord?
Or…it does not make any difference at all?
May the countenance of the Resurrected Christ continue to shine upon you and bless you and your loved one always.
Have a Blessed Easter 2025
